Dr. David T. Binnion has 30 years’ experience in senior management positions within Asia. He moved to Hong Kong in 1982 to take up a regional management position with Johnson & Johnson, and moved to Korea in 1984 as GM of Johnson & Johnson Medical – which he managed and developed for 5 years.

He had a brief stint in HR consulting from 1989 -1991 with Egon Zehnder International, based in Singapore, where he was exposed to best-practice recruitment and HR audit. In 1991, however, he moved back into healthcare management as Assistant to the Managing Director with Zuellig Pharma, Thailand. Here, main projects included the successful re-engineering of the production and logistics processes.

After 3 years in Thailand, David was promoted to Zuellig’s Headquarters in Hong Kong where he served as Assistant to the Regional Director. In this position, he negotiated a joint venture with the Vietnamese government to handle the logistics of pharmaceuticals throughout the country.

In 1997, David joined HayGroup as Regional Director, South East Asia, where he specialised in the areas of Human Resources Development, organizational structure, and organizational development. He led large projects for such world-class multi-nationals as Mercedes Benz, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, American Standard, Standard Chartered Bank, Kao, General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Roche Pharmaceuticals, and Holcim on a regional basis.

He has led projects throughout Asia, including India, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

He established the Master’s program in Human Resources Management at Mahidol College of Management – the first of its kind in Thailand. Today he teaches at Chulalongkorn University, Mae Fah Luang University in Chiangrai, and ECUST in Shanghai. He is considered an authority on Strategic Human Resources Management, and has brought about considerable performance improvements in companies in Thailand and throughout SEA.

He has a Bachelor’s degree from Leeds University Medical School, UK; a Postgraduate Certificate in Finance from INSEAD, France; an MBA from Manchester Business School, UK, as well as a Ph.D. in International Business.
